Beauty: Time's Up Let's Make a Difference Today!

In the height of the TIME’S UP movement, representation matters and representation for women with developmental disabilities cannot be forgotten. People with intellectual disabilities are the victims of sexual assaults at rates more than seven times those for people without disabilities. It’s one of the highest rates of sexual assault of any group in America, and it’s hardly talked about at all.

Let’s be the change, by not only bringing awareness to the problem but being the first to start to change it with representation throughout the world of fashion.

Check out this spectacular shoot producer, Michelle Raven has put together. With creative director, Emily Baynard, by her side, they were able to bring a whole new (and extremely beautiful) light on women with developmental disabilities. Fashion photographer, Lauren Krysti, captures the natural beauty in each of the women, while also letting the clothes speak. Wardrobe stylist Ann Marshik, created this entire wardrobe out of product from Arc’s Value Village. This local non-profit thrift store funds programs and services that promote and protect the human rights of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through the pieces she was able to bring fall florals to a new height by not only incorporating floral patterns throughout each ensemble, but by allowing the floral set capture our attention. Claire Neviaser brought to life a set that most would only dream to have, with boldly colored flowers and a mystical dark background. Although these models are naturally beautiful, hair and makeup artist Fatima Olive, helped highlight their best features keeping each model true themselves, while also adding a hint of glamour. All three of the models; Mikayla Holmgren, Maggie Erickson and Camile Nelson, are signed with Moore Creative Talent, helping them continue to grow and succeed as models within both the fashion and commercial world. These are the powerful changes we need to see. Let’s work together to make it happen!
