Activity- Gym Free Fitness
Summer is here and, yet again, you haven’t quite perfected your ideal summer bod. If you’re like me, working out can be quite a challenge. It can be difficult to motivate yourself to go to the gym. Although many use that time to think, relax or meditate, I cannot muster up the drive to simply “work out.” Plus, gym memberships can become very expensive. With all of this in mind, I did some research and came up with five different ways to get active in Minnesota this summer without needing a gym membership.
Challenge yourself with a fun bike ride through Lebanon Hills, located in Eagan. Only 25 minutes south of Minneapolis, you can get away from the busy city life and enjoy the work of Mother Nature. With 12 miles to ride on a one-way bike path, you won’t have to worry about people going in all different directions. Plus the trail provides a variety of sights and stops so you and your love can catch your breath, meditate, or simply admire the work of nature.
Bring your whole family out and get active at Skateville, located in Burnsville. With an average admission of $8 per person and $1.00 for regular skates, you are certain to have fun for a good price! With a variety of different events, music styles, and activities, everyone in the family will have their blood flowing while creating wonderful memories.
If you aren’t afraid of heights, take a hike to Vertical Endeavors. With locations in Minneapolis, Bloomington, and St.Paul, distance shouldn’t be a problem. For $30 (including rental gear) per person you can spend all day at their Minneapolis location learning the courses and exploring the building. If you’re new at this there are trainers on site ready to teach you all about rock climbing. Not only is this activity a little on the edge, but it is a fun way to learn something new.
If you enjoy spending time outside you may want to think about trying Frisbee golf. There are many courses throughout MN, and you can find a course near you simply by visiting www.discgolfscene.com. Type in your zip code find courses near you. Don’t forget to grab a couple of your best friends, for this game is much more exciting with a small group of people.
Soak up the sun and stay active out on Cleary Lake. Located in Prior Lake, you can spend the entire day there swimming, golfing on the golf course, or getting active on the water with a boat or two. For $8 per half hour you can explore the beautiful lake while working your legs on a paddle boat or working your arms and core while kayaking or canoeing. Plus you’re spending time in a lake which is ideal when living in the land of 10,000 lakes.
