Memo from Meghanlee
As a kid I was never a fan of spring; everything was wet, the air was warmish, but the ground was still bitter cold. However, as I entered high school, I started to actually notice the incredible transition from winter to spring and how breathtaking the changes of season truly are. It was amazing how a tree could lose everything and then, over time, create something magical and alluring out of absolutely nothing. Now, we all know how Mother Nature works. We know it isn’t magic, but sometimes, spring can truly feel magical.
Here at The Volk we’ve created a lot of magic since the winter issue. We actually had a few losses over the winter season; however, through those losses we were able to grow in areas where we were lacking. Not only did the opportunity for growth appear within the loss, but creative opportunities also arose allowing us to work with a wider variety of talent throughout the Twin Cities area. I truly believe having been able to introduce new faces and new talent to our collaboration team not only brought a fresh vibe to our editorials, but also expanded the community aspect, which is something we are all about! With this in mind, I have been envisioning The Volk similar to an apple tree in the sense that we may have had to let go of things, people, and ideas (apples and leaves), but as the season changed we were also able to re-purpose our brand and grow our vision into something bigger than we thought we could have imagined (re-growth/budding)!
Not only are we continuing to build this magazine, but we now have subscriptions available ensuring that you receive each issue on the day of the launch. On top of the amazing subscription options, we have grown our blog, making three consistent blog posts a week. Don’t worry, these posts are still relevant to the magazine but provide a new point of view. Our biggest addition to the company is the fact that we have now opened an online boutique: The Volk Boutique, available to shop now. Shop the latest trends from the magazine right on our website to keep you on-trend and, of course, chic. I told you, we have been making lots of magic within the last couple of months.
As far as the magazine goes, in this issue you will notice a very strong “woman empowerment” theme. Whether it be an all-female team creating an editorial, or features of incredibly strong women, you are certain to see femininity as you flip through every page. With our dynamic mother-daughter duo on the cover (Angela and Grace Wethor) we can ensure that empowerment and inspiration are destined to find you. Since we are all about women, you will also find a Mother’s Day gift guide as well as a beautiful tribute from the women on Team Volk to their mothers and daughters. Per usual there will be plenty of eye-catching fashion and intriguing articles captivating all of your creative senses. However, I have to say I am most excited to announce that we have completely re-developed the beauty section of The Volk, all thanks to our new Beauty Editor, Farah Husain. You can learn more about her and the vision she has for all things beauty here at The Volk on page (tbd).
As for mental health, you will find three articles covering the topic of anxiety. One is a personal journey, another is in the form of poetry, and the final one provides our readers with tips on how to overcome anxiety. Although fashion and beauty are the passions of The Volk, mental health is the lifestyle, and bringing the community together is the heart.
Beauty, fashion, mental health, community, and femininity are all coming together in the Spring 2019 issue of The Volk.
Grab a drink, put your feet up, and welcome to the world of all things female!
